CHAIN REACTION IS THE ULTIMATE CORPORATE BIKE CHALLENGE AND ANYONE WHO HAS BEEN PART OF ONE OF THESE EVENTS WOULD AGREE THAT THIS STATEMENT IS INDISPUTABLE. CHAIN REACTION IS MORE THAN JUST A 7 DAY, 1,000KM BIKE RIDE. WITH THE MUTUALLY EMBEDDED GOAL OF RAISING MONEY FOR SICK CHILDREN BY CHALLENGING SENIOR EXECUTIVES WHO HAVE A PASSION FOR CYCLING AND AN AWARENESS OF THEIR CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES, IT IS INDEED A JOURNEY AND TO CALL IT ANYTHING LESS WOULD SIMPLY NOT BE DOING IT JUSTICE.
The journey begins in the November of the previous year with the initial rider briefing. There, riders are told of the planned course for the ride and the designated training that will hopefully prepare them all for this life changing experience. The four month training program includes three sessions a week of both long and short rides, ‘scientifically’ developed to ensure all participants are in top shape by event start.
James Monahan, Senior Development Manager, from our Victoria office was a proud participant of the 2014 event, raising $7,640 towards this brilliant cause. “The course was extremely challenging with some days basking in hot sun and others freezing in the cold of Cradle Mountain. However, within two days of being on the ride my eyes were opened to a group of people that simply saw helping children in need as the greatest contribution they could make to the wider community.”
Tony Murdoch, Acquisitions Manager from our NSW office, was a motivated contender in both the 2013 and 2014 events raising $5,850 in his first year of participation and a further $7,050 in 2014 towards bettering the health of sick children.
